Nigerian doctor collapses after 72-hour shift and Unpaid intern in Rivers

Nigeria medical doctor, who has reportedly not been paid for three months, collapsed after a working a 72-hour shift.

Dr Okorie Ifeanyi Venatus is an intern doctor at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, Rivers State.

According to a medical doctor @DrPenking who shared Okorie’s story, intern doctors across Nigeria have not been paid since December 2020.

Despite not being paid, Dr Okorie has been working as the only House Officer in the unit, sadly he collapsed after working for 3 days stretch. He was then admitted at the hospital.
