Tolu Ogunlesi who is the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Digital and New Media, has given a reason why a Major General was chosen to replace Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, the immediate past Army Chief who died in a plane crash last Friday, May 21.

President Buhari on Thursday, May 27, announced Maj. Gen. Faruk Yahaya as Attahiru’s replacement.

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, via her Twitter handle, questioned the appointment of a Major General as the new Chief of Army Staff. She wrote

”Does this appointment of a Major General as Chief of Army Staff by @NGRPresident mean we shall lose some of the best of our Senior Officers of the @HQNigerianArmy ? I hope not.’

Tolu saw her comment and responded, explaining why a Major General was picked.
