This is one of the effects of jealousy in marriage. In his words; “I wished I had learnt from the failure of my previous marriage…”.

I admit that the failure of my first marriage was as a result of my mistrust, jealousy and ego.

Now my daughter is paying the dire consequences of his actions.

My wife was 22-years old when we got married and she was hardworking. But because of my jealousy and ego, I would always lash out on her.

This feeling of insecurity however lasted till we had our first daughter, Debbie. Thoughts was that things would change afterwards but no.

When Debbie was 10, we held a birthday party and there I saw her chatting and laughing with her colleagues from work and I grew jealous.

There at the party, I confronted her and she walked away. I pulled her back and a colleague of hers tried to intervene so I hit him in the face.

My wife got tired of my actions and requested for a divorce. All efforts made by our friends and family prove abortive.

On several occasions, I would accuse her of infidelity ‘without a proof’ but I held on to the fact that she comes late from work due to traffic.

Two years after the failed marriage, I met Bimbo who had a well paying job but at that time, I had lost my job.

Being without a job, I would always sit and watch her prepare for work on daily basis. Soon, the feeling of jealousy was been rekindled in me. Hence, I would always complain about the one thing I know most ‘infidelity’.

We began to have issues in our home. My parents came around on several occasions to settle the insignificant quarrels and warned me to desist from unnecessary jealousy and insecurity before I ruin my home again.

Soon, my wife came home with a brand new car given to her by the company’s management. I grew suspicious and told my best friend about it. Jide advised that I do something about it.

He however took me to a native doctor who prepared a charm for me that I place it at my wife’s doorstep. With words that any man that sleeps with her would die of an incurable disease in two weeks.

I was pleased with myself. Little did I know that I was heading towards doom.

Unfortunately for me, after laying the charm, my 14-year old daughter stepped on it. I was shocked for unhurried off to the herbalist who then proffered just one solution.

That I have a carnal knowledge of my daughter else she dies in the next two weeks. Since he already warned me about the potency of the charm.

See where my jealousy has landed me. Indeed, jealousy is a self kindled fire and if care is not taken, it would burn its owner without remedy.
