Fulani Herdsmen: Ooni of Ife In support of Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho

By on February 5th, 2021

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi II, has declared his support for Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, who set out on a quest to drive out criminal herdsmen from the southwest parts of Nigeria.

The monarch’s support comes on the heels of an apology tendered by Igboho following his earlier misspeak against the revered Yoruba traditional ruler.

Igboho had earlier said that the Ooni disappointed the Yoruba nation and subverted the course of their safety for personal financial interests during his visit to the president in Abuja, but recanted hours later pleading for forgiveness.

In a statement by his press secretary, Moses Olafere, the Ooni affirmed that Igboho has been forgiven following his public apology.

He also said that the activist has his full backing of the Ooni for the ”liberation of the Yorubas”.

The statement read; “He (The Ooni) has forgiven him (Igboho) as he had tendered an apology via a video clip he produced via social media yesterday evening.

“Even though the way and manner, Sunday behaved was sacrilege to the Oduduwa throne but he has already apologised and I can confirm that Arole Oodua forgiven him, because, there is no perfection in humanity. Sunday is a human being like a normal human being who could misbehave as well”

“As the father of all, the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II remains his father who had even identified with him in the past two weeks he has begun with the struggle and he is still solidly behind him for the liberation of the Yorubas from criminal herdsmen who have adamantly terrorised our land.”
