FEAR OF ESN, “WE’RE UNDER PRESSURE NOW – ARMY TO PRESIDENCY, The Eastern Security Network is a South-Eastern regional security force and a paramilitary wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra, a movement whose aim is to restore the independence of Biafra, which has been defunct since the end of the 1967-1970 Nigerian Civil War.
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that failure of Southeast governors to secure the lives and property of Igbo people led to the formation of the Eastern Security Network.
In a statement he issued, Kanu said the Southeast and South-South regions have resolved to defend their territories from terrorism and extra-judicial killings.
Kanu, who accused the governors of sleeping while external forces kill their people in Biafra territory, warned that the people of the regions would not allow what happened at Obigbo in Rivers State to repeat itself.
