This news was confirmed to the Punch Metro at the Lagos State Police Command about an order to release the Nollywood actor who has been arrested over rape case in the last few weeks.

The source said due to the strike action by the members of the Judicial staff of Nigeria, there has been no court sitting and a suspect cannot be detained without trial.

 

The source also confirmed that the said CCTV footage had been examined and proper investigation has been carried out and there was no instance of defilement by Olanrewaju Omiyinka.

 

The Police officer said that “There was no case of defilement. People are just talking out of sentiments. They are not talking from the point of law. In his words,” we interviewed all parties involved in the case for 3 hours today”.

The mother of the victim said “Her child was at the age of seven when she was defiled and when she was asked, she pointed at Baba Ijesha. But the case was not reported until she was fourteen. And under the law, the case has become statute-barred.

” Regarding this case, the CCTV footage has been assessed and there was no place captures where Baba Ijesha defiled the victim. The footage only showed him touching the victims body but never showed him having a sexual intercourse with her. The victim however confirmed same.

However, the accused is liable to bail. And order has been given in effect to this
